About Me:

Hi I’m Chris Richardson and over time I will be adding posts to this blog. In the meantime I thought I should at least provide a bit of information about my practice along with my current CV which is attached below.

In terms of qualifications I graduated from James Cook University in 1998 with a B.Psych [Hons] and then completed a research based Ph.D. through the School of Criminology and Criminology and Criminal Justice at Griffith University in 2007.

I have spent many years working in the justice system as a psychologist. This has involved roles including being a member of the Queensland Parole Board and being an expert witness and report writer in the Federal Magistrates Court and on occasion for the Family Court of Australia. I have also. since 1999 written reports for use in sentencing in all levels of Court in the criminal jurisdiction and for a number of years wrote reports for victims of crime.

Currently I work in Townsville in private practice at 6 McKinley St. North Ward. In recent years my practice has expanded to working with local GPs who refer individuals under the Medicare funded Mental Health Care Plan program. I still work with a select group of lawyers by providing both Pre Sentence Reports and ongoing therapy for offenders prior to sentence.

I am also a co-founder of the Mens Toolbox, an organisation which provides support services for men who are experiencing relationship challenges and family separation.
